Dave is a Partner at Social Capital, where he invests in Climate and Late Stage opportunities.
He has 15 years of experience, including more than a decade as a buy-side investor across public and private equities, with extensive experience in renewable energy, clean tech, oil & gas, materials, agriculture, chemicals, capital equipment, and project development.
Prior to Social Capital, Dave was a hedge fund analyst for 10 years, refining an analytical framework built on deep fundamental research and supported by an extensive understanding of risk management and data science. Most recently, Dave was an Analyst at Deep Basin Capital, a $1B energy-focused hedge fund, where he led research for renewable energy, clean tech, and energy-industrials.
Previously, he joined startup hedge fund AREX Capital as a founding member of the team; with additional experience at Citadel and Merchants’ Gate Capital investing across industrials and natural resources. Dave began his career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. as an investment banker in the natural resources group where he contributed to $3B in M&A and capital markets transactions. There he achieved early promotion and transitioned to the firm’s Principal Investment Area.
Dave graduated with a degree in Honors Business Administration from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario, where he was an Ivey Scholar.
