Carmen is a Partner at Social Capital, where she is responsible for Investor Relations and Marketing.
She has over a decade of experience leading teams in corporate strategy, business development, IR, and communications at high growth software and financial technology companies. Prior to Social Capital, Carmen was a Vice President and Chief of Staff at Brex, where she helped raise over $1B in both equity and debt capital. She worked closely with the founders and executive team as the company scaled the business by 20x and headcount by 10x over a period of two years. Carmen has held similar leadership roles in software businesses both at the early stage (Honeybook) and pre-IPO stage (Zuora).
She began her career at J.P. Morgan in New York, as an associate in the securitized products group, and subsequently in emerging markets fixed income research. She was a key member of #1-ranked Institutional Investor sell-side Emerging Market Research strategy team, and ranked as one of the top 15 associates in the global sales and trading business.
Carmen graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Harvard College and an M.B.A at Harvard Business School. She is a native Spanish speaker, and has lived and studied in North and Latin America, Morocco, and India.
